Does it work without internet?
Yes — NourCrypt runs 100% inside your browser. All encryption and decryption is handled by a local Web Worker. You can disconnect your internet and it will still work perfectly.
What's the maximum file size?
Up to 500 MB. Files are processed in 8 MB chunks using streaming, so your browser stays fast and responsive even with large files. Performance depends on your device's RAM and CPU.
What encryption standard is used?
AES-256-GCM — the same authenticated encryption used by governments and banks. Your password is strengthened with 600,000 PBKDF2 iterations and a random salt to resist brute-force attacks.
Can you see my files or passwords?
No. NourCrypt is zero-knowledge — your files and passwords never leave your device. There are no server uploads, no analytics, and no tracking. You can verify this in your browser's Network tab.
What if I forget my password?
Your encrypted file cannot be recovered. Since NourCrypt never stores or transmits your password, there is no "forgot password" option. Always keep a secure backup of your passphrases.
